Consultative Assessments

Consultative assessments are focused on maintaining safety and quality in services, offering expert evaluations and targeted recommendations for an individual’s continued growth and improvement. Mental health practitioners and dedicated experts conduct the assessments and work together with residential team members to administer the Behavioral Support Program (BSP). They are comprehensive, transparent, and in compliance with federal and state regulations.

The goal is better supporting the behavioral needs of people receiving services. These assessments help create a sense of an individual’s limitations, capabilities, needs, goals, and aspirations. The process also helps determine how the individual might fit into various residential and shared living settings. The BSP helps the support team develop strategies and solutions to overcome any challenges. Identifying behaviors that might need to be addressed in a residential setting offers info and a baseline for developing the BSP. Used to train direct support providers, BSP’s give teams the opportunity to best support individuals with IDD safely and consistently.

By mitigating behaviors that might cause stress to others in a residential setting, individuals with IDD can grow within their surroundings. They can carry a sense of independence beyond their life at home and become more engaged in community activities. Offering a sense of safety can empower an individual to explore creative endeavors, volunteer opportunities, or join the workforce.
