We provide a variety of services to help those with physical and intellectual disabilities experience life, employment, and independence within the community

Hand of Heartland team member Emily Sellers, had this to say about working within the Hands of Heartland team,

“What gets me out of bed in the morning? Coming to work for a company that treats each employee and individual like a family member. I even received a bouquet when my 4-month-old was in the hospital. Feels great to know you have people that truly care about you.”

At Hands of Heartland, we believe that having skilled and passionate medical professionals on our team is essential in assisting those with physical and intellectual disabilities. That’s why the staff at Hands of Heartland are so passionate, friendly, and professional.

Brett Chambers had this to say about the work done at Hands of Heartland,

“The thing I like most about working at Hands of Heartland are the people that we serve and care for, and also that I am always learning something new.”

Some of the challenges that those with physical or mental disabilities face in the real world include discrimination, lack of accessibility, and poverty. According to the World Health Organization, around 15% of the world’s population lives with some form of disability, and nearly 80% of them live in developing countries.

This means that they often don’t have access to the same education, employment, and health care as those without disabilities. This can lead to a cycle of poverty and exclusion. In addition, people with disabilities often face discrimination and stigma.

This can make it even harder for them to find jobs, access services, and participate in their communities. The Hands of Heartland team is dedicated to offering services that work to support and uplift these particularly vulnerable groups of people.

Grand Island nurse, Lisa Ingram, had this to say about the work Hands of Heartland does,

“I love being an advocate for the people who can’t advocate for themselves. I have worked in this field as a unit nurse for 11 years & love this type of work.”

Our Health Support Services team is dedicated to providing the high-quality care and support needed to help our clients reach their fullest potential. The members of our medical team are highly skilled and have a wealth of experience in working with people with physical and intellectual disabilities. They are passionate about their work and are committed to helping our clients achieve their goals.

Long-time team member, Teresa Roberson, had this to say about the joy of working with clients,

“I have been at Hands Of Heartland for 17 years and it has been the clients that have kept me here doing whatever I can to help or assist them in any way. They have brought a special joy to my life and it feels good to go on the floor and be recognized by name. I have built some great relationships with them.”

As you can see, the Health Support Services team at Hands of Heartland is an important part of our organization, and we are proud to have them on our team. They play a vital role in helping our client’s experience life, employment, and independence within a community.
